About The Run:
Lovely Disabled Home will be organizing its first Charity Run on
16th September 2017, the themed <Run for a Chance>. It is a public
charity event and we provide special emphasis for Persons with
Disability (PWD). Through this event, we hope to advocate inclusiveness
and disability awareness among the community. We are aiming for 250
numbers of PWD, 250 numbers of volunteers and 1000 participants from the
public. There will be two separate route (3km and 10km), catering for
each category (PWD and normal category).
The objectives of this event:
1. Advocating for Disability Awareness. In order to bridge the difference between typical individual and PWD, we must execute the element of “inclusiveness”. This running event, we are encouraging the family package (children and parents) to run alongside with our PWD friends. After all, sports, is for all.
2. Promoting the Lovely Disabled Home Socks. Lovely Disabled Home's sock is a product of the LDH Workshop. The workshop provides job opportunity for PWD and empowering them to contribute to the community. There are 3 kinds of socks: sports socks, daily socks and the school socks, each in very good quality.
3. Fundraising for Lovely Disabled Home’s operation cost, and the goal is RM200,000. At present, Lovely Disabled Home 's workshop have 40 individuals with disability under employment. However, because there is not a large offer for job opportunity for PWD, the application for enrollment is usually overwhelming. We hope to provide for more PWD and a disabled-friendly workplace.
