SITIAWAN HOLIDAY TRIP

SITIAWAN  HOLIDAY TRIP ( 2 & 3 JANUARY 2015)

What a great start for the new year!  A holiday trip, yipee!  After months of planning and delays  we finally set off for a cuti-cuti Malaysia again, this time to Sitiawan and its neighboring places of interest.

 K.L --> BIDOR -->  SITIAWAN --> LUMUT --> DAMAI LAUT --> SEGARI --> PANTAI REMIS --> K.L

First pit stop for brunch at  Bidor's  iconic Restoran Pun Chun

Ordered the restaurant's famous double-boiled Duck Soup  wtih dry noodles. Taste great, the damage, RM9. But my traveling buddies took the normal wan tan mee which cost a  whopping RM8.30 per plate as compared with KL  normal rate around RM5+. If ever pass by this town again, totally avoid this touristy restaurant  with pricey menus.

From Bidor it took about 1hr 45minutes to  reach  Sitiawan. Proceed to have a late lunch at Restaurant seafood Villa at Kampung Cina, Sitiawan

Kampung Koh famous chili sauce.

Have a simple lunch of 3 dishes namely steam siakap fish, seafood claypot and braised chicken with bitter gourd. The bill came up to Rm60.

NEXT DESTINATION - TUA PEK KONG TEMPLE, PASIR PANJANG, SITIAWAN

Tua Pek Kong Temple or (品仙祠大伯公和观音堂) located at  coastal of Pasir Panjang, Sitiawan, it's more than 100 years old and is just only 10mins drive from Restoran Laut Villa

Not to be left out, there is a kiddy sections for the small one.

Food & Souvenir stalls

The Strait of Malacca fronting the temple.

NEXT STOP -  THAI BUDDHIST TEMPLE -  WAT SITAWANARAM, KG. KOH, SITIAWAN

Wat Sitawanaram (Thai Buddhist Temple) or also known as Sam Poh Kong to the earlier Buddhist Devotees is located in Kampong Koh, Sitiawan. It was established almost 100 years ago by Thai Buddhist monks of the Theravada tradition.

                                                             Reclining Buddha

Further next 2 doors away from the Buddhist temple after Pioneer Methodist Church is the Sitiawan Settlement Museum

Sitiawan Settlement Museum was built in 1935 as a home for pastors. However, it was converted into a museum on 7th September, 2003. It is fully-funded and managed by the Methodist Church.

Our overnight stay at Sitiawan - Oscar Suites Hotel
Looks quite modern from outside but the room size is a bit small. The hotel room rate is slightly expensive than neighboring hotels. Standard Deluxe room per night stay start at RM128 as compared with the other majority hotels around here about RM80/90.

Wanted to have dinner at this famous restaurant, but it was full house due to a wedding dinner function.

Eventually we ended up at  Lido Restoran to have our dinner. Selected 5 simple dishes as below-
1) Red Wine Mee Suah (Rice Vermicelli Noodles-  Foo Chow specialty)
2) Signature crispy beancurd
3) fish fillet stir fried spring onion
4) Or Chien (oyster omelette)
5) mixed vegetables (loh hon chai)
Really enjoyed the dinner, it was definitely the best meal for the trip overall.
And the bill was really reasonable at only RM76.

This park is located in Seri Manjung, between Ipoh and Lumut road, approximately 10 minutes travelling from Lumut town.
This park was built in May 1994 and was opened to the public in May 1995. In 2005, the park was maintained and transformed. It has a 336-meter long and 6-metre wide track spanning the mangrove swamp.

This park is also famously know as ''Monkey Park" cause there is quite a number of monkeys freely roaming around here. This crab-eating long-tailed monkey is called Macaque.

Though the swamps are muddy in nature, they help to provide an eco- system that supports a varieties of living organisms and plants. Other advantages include :
  • Protecting the land from erosion of the sea water.
  • Wood from Mangrove trees are used to make charcoal and firewood for household and industrial use.
  • A shelter for migratory birds.
  • Breeding ground for crabs, prawns and other sea creatures.

Mangroves are trees and shrubs that grow well in the estuaries where the river and the sea water met. The mangrove is a type of wetlands found only in tropical climate like Malaysia. It is home to many sea creatures such as crabs, fish, birds, prawns. Monkeys are usually found in these areas as well. Technically this mangrove species is called Rhizophora Mucronata

Beautiful River Dinding estuary.

Do you know monkeys likes to play on water too?
